"exogenesis" is a limited edition release commemorating the success of Jeremy Abbott, four time U. S. National Champion figure skater and now two-time Olympian, leading the U. S. Mens Team going into Sochi!
This bow tie draws inspiration from three places. The first is the music to Jeremy's long program, "Exogenesis Symphony: Part 3 [Redemption]" by Muse--the soaring conclusion to their 2009 album. Second comes from an artist who also couldn't separate music from his work, James Abbott McNeill Whistler. Often naming his paintings after musical ideas, such as "harmonies," or "arrangements," Whistler's "Nocturne in Black and Gold - The Falling Rocket" is a stunning example of Whistler's mastery of color. And lastly, "exogenesis" draws inspiration from the grace, beauty, and strength Jeremy Abbott is known for—he performs this program with his heart on his sleeve.
The fabric is a black and silver metallic brocade, hand painted with rust and gold as an homage to Whistler's work and Jeremy's upcoming Olympic performances. We love the Olympics for its athleticism, display of national pride, tales of overcoming adversity, and unification of humans across the globe despite ethnicity, creed, gender, nationality, or orientation. We are proud to have Jeremy Abbott representing our country in Sochi--the epitome of athleticism and artistry, hard work and style.
